What needed solving
ISHEMA plans processing factories for dairy, meat, fish, poultry, dry food and horticulture products to add value locally, reduce imports and create jobs.
Rwanda produces plenty but still imports many processed foods. Before committing capital, the project needed evidence on demand, prices, raw-material supply and existing competitors.
How we tackled it
- 1
Market analysis
National demand across six categories, aligned with agricultural policy and investment incentives.
- 2
Field research
Consumers, retailers, supermarkets, schools and cooperatives on preferences, prices and willingness to pay.
- 3
Value-chain diagnostics
Raw-material supply, post-harvest losses and waste-to-value opportunities.
- 4
Competitor & gap analysis
Existing processors’ capacity, pricing and reach, and where the market is under-served.
Key outputs
- Market, product and price report
- Value-chain diagnostic
- Factory, product-line and capacity recommendations
The difference it makes
- Factory investment decisions grounded in real local demand, not assumptions.
- Clear sight of under-served segments that support import substitution and agro-processing jobs.
